i like when i notice minor events that correspond well to larger philosophies on life. not because they're profound or anything, but because it makes me feel smart. maybe that's not a good thing, but until someone can explain it to me in an analogy, i refuse to believe it!
the one i saw today was pretty cool. i was walking down the street from work to where i park, which is pretty far away, and i saw two people crossing a street. one was a young, well dressed, black man. he had on nice gray slacks and a very purple shirt. for some reason black dudes can pull this off waaay better than i can. the other was an older, very possibly homeless, white woman. she had on what seemed to be old boxer shorts, a dingy orange old navy performance fleece, slippers that i cannot recall a description of, and a yellow toothbrush in her hand. the two were crossing the same street at the same time, going in the same direction.
he was male, she was female. he was black, she was white. he was young, she was old. he had nice clothes, she had a toothbrush.
at first i thought this was pretty funny. then i thought about it more, and realized; yes, it's funny, but it's also an interesting commentary on life. no matter who we are, or what we're doing, we're all just people going somewhere. we may be very different, but we are traveling at the same time, going in the same direction.
(there should probably be more to this post, but i'm lazy, tired, and new at this. plus, no one reads it anyway!)
