my misadventure for one _ p1

i went camping last weekend. by myself. smart? maybe not. fun? sure. hot enough to make a grown man cry? um, of course not...
but it was dang hot. fun too, though. i stopped by walmart just outside of weatherford. i know, i didn't think anything existed just outside of nothing either, but apparently it does. and i got supplies there.
i got tomatoes, and bean-and-beef chili, and nutrigrain bars, and bananas, and batteries.
i made it to the camp just after 8 and got started. luckily the sun was still out and there was plenty of heat to go around. but that didn't make setting up the 2-3 person tent any easier. its not jsut called a 2-3 person tent b/c that's how many people can fit in it. they also call it that b/c that's how many it takes to set up.
then i had to make fire. after setting up that tent, i thought i could wink at the logs and they would burst into flames. they didn't. so i tried leaves. still no. broken twigs? nuh uh. dried grass mixed with leaves and wrapped around broken twigs? nope. and after stuffing all of that with notebook paper and trying again, i still had no fire. then i remembered my true talent; mooching.
i got some lighter fluid from this other family camping nearby. and by "nearby" i mean i had to jog around the area to find someone with a fire and i found them about a hundred yards away. and this was a great idea until i had a nice little fire going...and had to return their lighter fluid. smokey says that ain't safe.

(and it is here i feel i should stop and make this installment one of "my misadventure for one")

Last night at Youth Group, we sang this song and it reminded me of this post from way back in the day when I had a Xanga, or, as I often called it, Jenga.

I hope you enjoy!

How great is our God? He's great enough to transform a convention center, occasionally filled with those of the secular mind set, into a chilling Hall of Worship. A Hall of Worship housing nearly 3,000 Christians with their hearts stretched out to the one true God in wonderful praise of His Glory. His Glory that inspires them to give immensely to those in need, both far and near. Those in need on the farthest corners of the globe, who have never even heard the name of His Glory. Those in our backyard who just lost everything they've ever known. His Glory that will mend the scars of both in His Glorious time. His Glory that will give them, and us, hope. So, sing with me!!! How great is our God?!?!?!
